What this timer does
This is a no-fuss kitchen timer for people who just want to cook without fighting an app.
Set a countdown in minutes and seconds, give it a friendly name like “Pasta” or “Roast,” and press Start. The display is big, clear, and tappable — easy to read even when your hands are covered in flour or sauce.
- Countdown & stopwatch. Use Timer mode to count down, or switch to Stopwatch mode when you need to track how long something has already been going.
- Three clock faces. Choose between a bold digital ring, a classic analog clock, or a playful binary clock view.
- Named timers. Label your timer so you remember what’s on the stove.
- Remembers the little things. Your last timer value and timer name are saved between visits.
- Cozy or cosmic. Toggle between dark, light, and a playful Star Wars mode for late-night cooking.
Why it was built
It started, as many kitchen projects do, with a pot of over-boiled pasta. The timer on the microwave was hard to reach, phone timers were buried under notifications, and most timer apps felt like spreadsheets with alarms.
I wanted something warmer and more focused — a timer that felt like a friendly appliance sitting on the counter, not another piece of software asking for attention. So I built this sandbox project to test ideas, play with CSS, and slowly shape it into a cooking companion.
The chunky buttons, the cartoon kitchen scene, and the optional Star Wars mode are all there to make timing feel less like a chore and more like part of the meal. No ads, no accounts, no clutter — just a simple tool that shows up when you need it.
How to use it
Pick Timer for a countdown or Stopwatch to count up. Use the + and – buttons, scroll the number fields, or type directly. Press Start. When time is up, the ring pulses and the status says “Done.” Press Reset to start over, and use the style switcher to swap between digital, analog, and binary views whenever you like.
